Pergamum is the third church in our Revelation series. This church faced intense pressure from the outside, which led to compromise on the inside, and that greatly displeased the Lord. The lesson we can derive from Christ’s letter to the church in Pergamum is that we must choose not to allow pressure to change us negatively, or public opinion to trump God’s Word, or our feelings to overcome our faith. Any direction that contradicts Christ is too costly to follow!
