We begin our seven-part series about the seven churches in the book Revelation by looking at the first church John addresses in his writing—the church in Ephesus. Ephesus was a very wealthy city that was filled with terribly sinful practices. In the midst of this immoral culture stood Christ’s church, which He praised for it’s hard work, purity, and perseverance. However, the Lord held this one thing against the Ephesian church: it had forsaken its first love. Do you remember how much you loved Jesus when He first saved you? You read your Bible all the time and were so excited to tell everyone about Gospel. But somehow over the years, that flame tends to die down. We can learn from what Christ had to say to the church in Ephesus exactly how we get back to Him—our first love!
