One Thing is Needed When the Banquet Blocks the Bridegroom

The battle of first place is always fought on the field of our priorities. Luke 10:38-42 is the story of two sisters, Mary and Martha, who had Jesus and His disciples over as guests. Mary chose to sit at the feet of Jesus, to listen and learn like a disciple. Martha chose to be distracted by the preparations for the day. Her hospitality was a good thing! However, distraction cleverly moves us away from true devotion to the Lord. Pastor Jeff Walling gives us the recipe that calls for REMOVING three things: 1.) any desire to impress, 2.) attention to detail that blocks our view of the Savior, and 3.) anxiety over externals that rob our joy in worship…and calls for ADDING awareness that Christ is always present, always our honored guest.
