Happy are Those Who are Sad

Our world is filled with pain and grief. Yet in Matthew 5:4, Jesus Christ says that those who mourn will be blessed and comforted. How can this be? Pastor Tim Winters teaches that there are three kinds of sorrow: 1) Natural sorrow (loss); 2) Worldly sorrow (longing for something God hasn’t given us); and 3) Godly sorrow (being sorry for our sins). To experience godly sorrow leads to repentance—a change in heart and a change in direction. This message led to an astonishing number of baptisms at Shepherd Church the weekend it was preached.
