The Soldier and His Spoils

In Joshua chapters six and seven, the Israelites were on the cusp of entering the Promised Land. God had just given them a tremendous victory at the Battle of Jericho. But then Achan sinned and disobeyed the Lord in a big way at the Battle of Ai, and because of his sin, the Israelites were defeated. Achan’s story illustrates the point that each of us has the potential to influence a great number of people, for better or worse. Pastor Dudley Rutherford teaches on the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat, and four important points about sin that we all should take to heart: 1.) Sin has allure; 2.) Sin has consequences; 3.) Sin will always be uncovered; 4.) Sin affects others.
