As we approach Resurrection Day and continue our series, “Three Days that Changed the World,” we come to the unjust trials of Jesus Christ. The trials of Jesus were rife with slander, false testimony, ridicule, political agenda, and illegalities. Why did Jesus—the Word of God who had the power to calm seas, heal disease, raise the dead to life—endure this humiliation? Most people would talk a mile a minute to get out of a terrible or unfair situation, but Jesus stood silently. Pastor Jeff Walling explains that our Lord did so to submit to the law, speak the truth, and stand in our place. Meanwhile, another trial was taking place, not in the courtroom but the courtyard, as Peter’s loyalty is tested. When your moment comes, how will you testify about who Jesus is?
